Introducing Korean dramas scheduled to air in 2024.
Here’s a lineup of upcoming dramas sorted by their premiere dates.
1. Wedding Impossible (웨딩 임파서블)
Premiere: February 26, 2024~ (tvN)
Cast: Jeon Jong-seo, Moon Sang-min, Kim Do-wan, Bae Yoon-kyung
“Wedding Impossible” is a romantic comedy drama about ‘Ah-jeong,’ a nameless actress preparing for a disguised marriage with a secret chaebol heir, and ‘Ji-han,’ the younger brother who likes the brother-in-law-to-be, who opposes the marriage.
2. Wonderful World (원더풀 월드)
Premiere: March 1, 2024~ (MBC)
Cast: Kim Nam-joo, Cha Eun-woo, Kim Kang-woo, Lim Se-mi
“Wonderful World” is a human mystery drama starring the face genius of K-POP idol group ASTRO, Cha Eun-woo. Eun-soo-hyun (Kim Nam-joo), who personally punishes the murderer who killed her son, unravels the mysterious secret intertwined on that day. The first teaser and poster are currently released.
3. The Prince Disappeared (세자가 사라졌다)
Premiere: March 9, 2024~ (MBN)
Cast: EXO’s Suho, Hong Ye-ji, Myung Se-bin
EXO’s Suho takes the lead role in “The Prince Disappeared.” It’s a romantic comedy about the outer strength-inner weakness prince, ‘Lee Geon,’ who suddenly becomes the victim of a kidnapping. Hong Ye-ji portrays the character of the best female disguise expert in Joseon as Suho’s counterpart. With just the character’s colors, can you not anticipate some comedic tales unfolding? Additionally, making a comeback after a long hiatus, actress Myung Se-bin takes on the role of ‘Min Soo-ryeon,’ who, trapped in high status, must give up love. The first teaser is currently released.
4. Queen of Tears (눈물의 여왕)
Premiere: March 16, 2024 (tvN)
Cast: Kim Soo-hyun, Kim Ji-won
It’s a long-awaited return to the screen for actor Kim Soo-hyun, known for his roles in “My Love From the Star” and “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay.”
“Queen of Tears” tells the story of ‘Hong Hae-in,’ the owner of the Queens Group conglomerate and Baek Hyun-woo, the son of a rural village leader, as they navigate through the precarious crisis of their third-year marriage, miraculously finding love again. This drama is written by Park Ji-eun, the screenwriter behind internationally popular dramas like “My Love From the Star” and “Crash Landing on You.” Can’t we trust this to be another hit? The making film is currently released.
5. The Audit (감사합니다)
Premiere: Scheduled for July 2024 (tvN)
Cast: Shin Ha-kyun, Jin Goo, Lee Jeong-ha, Jo Ah-ram
The drama’s English title is “The Audit,” but its Korean title is “Thank You (감사합니다[gamsahamnida]).” The pronunciation of “gamsa” carries the meanings of both “Thank You” and “The Audit.”
“Thank You” depicts the day-to-day operations of the internal audit department of a company, showcasing the legendary audit team’s efforts to catch embezzlers. It’s a heroic tale akin to Disney+ drama “Moving.” In Lee Jeong-ha’s next project after “Moving,” fans are eager to see which character will bring laughter.
In 2024, Korean television dramas are currently gaining popularity with both viewership ratings and buzzworthy content. For a while, they couldn’t quite match up to the classics on OTT services… I’ve gathered information on five dramas among the many slated to air this year. How does that sound?
